24-Sep-2024: Conference on Waqf Bill in Hyderabad India

A national conference on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024, was held in Hyderabad on 24 September 2024, in collaboration with Majlis Tameer-e-Millat, Hyderabad. This was, inter alia, attended by Syed Nasir Hussain, Member, JPC; Sanjay Singh, Member, JPC; Mohibullah Nadvi, Member, JPC; Imran Masood, Member, JPC; Krishna Lau, Member, JPC (MP, TDP); Khalid Saifullah Rehmani, President, AIMPLB; Syed Sadatullah Hussain, President, JIH; Mohammed Adeeb, Chairman, IMCR and Ex-MP; Shahnawaz Ahmad, MLC, SP; Md. Ali Shabbir, Advisor, Telangana Government; Khalid Khan, former Joint Secretary, Parliament; K. Rahman Khan, former Minister, Minority Affairs; Jafar Hussain, MLA, MIM; Umar Shareef, General Secretary, Majlis Tameer-e-Millat; Dr. Azam Baig; Azeez Pasha; Amir Ali Khan, MLC, Chairman, Siyasat Akhbar; Maulana Hasan Al-Hamumi, Imam, Shahi Jama Masjid, Hyderabad; Hafeez Khan, MLA, BRS; Syed Azmatullah Khan, Chairman, Waqf Board Telangana; Shafiquz Zaman, Retd. IAS; Jamil Ahmad Khan, General Secretary, Indo-Arab League; Ziauddin Nayar Sb; and Anzarul Bari, Member, Executive Committee, IMCR.

All the speakers were of the unanimous view that the proposed bill is not in the interest of Waqf. It will damage the Auqaf in Waqf Boards irreparably, and the bill is based on ill motives of the government, with a view to declare Waqf properties as government properties. It was unanimously resolved to reject the bill in toto. It was also suggested that support from the community should be sought in the fight against injustice and ill motives.
